The last “I Am” statement that Jesus makes before going to the cross was, “I Am the True Vine”. In the Old Testament times, Israel was known as the rebellious vine. The Israelites rejected God over and over, and then experienced rejection by God. Many years later, Jesus claimed to be the Vine. He would be the One rejected so that we could be saved.
