In Jesus’ day, the Jewish people were well aware of how important the Sheep Gate was. They were also waiting for the fulfillment of Ezekiel’s prophesy that God was going to personally come down and shepherd His children. This is the background that shows the importance when Jesus says, “I Am the Gate”, and “I Am the Good Shepherd”.
